About Climate Smart Crop Production

The Climate Smart Crop Production programme develops agricultural entrepreneurs for the future, empowering those who are competent in both crop production techniques and entrepreneurial approaches to agriculture.

Students are taught how to effectively plan and operate within environments that employ climate concious practices in agriculture, while also being exposed to a multitude of techniques which ensure the sustainability of crops and produce.

Equipped with the competencies developed throughout the programme, graduates will apply appropriate crop production and sustainable techniques to their agricultural endeavours, while capitalising on business opportunities within the field.

Learning Outcomes

  • Graduates will possess industry-responsive skills to conceive and execute farming techniques which are environmentally-concious.
  • Practitioners are instilled with the entrepreneurial mindset necessary to envision potential employment opportunities in the field of crop production.
  • Students develop the intuition, taste and practical knowledge required for identifying and producing high-valued crops.

Entry Requirements

  1. Five CSEC Grades I, II or III passes including English A and Mathematics).
  2. CSEC passes in the following subjects would be an asset:
    • Principles of Business
    • Agriculture
    • Chemistry
    • Biology
  3. Students who have completed the CVQs Crop Production I and Crop Production II also qualify to enter the programme provided they have passes in English A and Mathematics at CSEC or equivalent.
  4. Mature student status: A person who has reached their 21st Birthday, with at least three years of work experience in the agricultural sector will also be eligible for consideration. An interview with the applicant ia required.
  5. If the applicant does not have passes in English A and Mathematics at CSEC (or equivalent) a prior learning assessment will be required.
