Defensive Driving
Defensive Driving is an interactive, eight-hour course that is delivered 100% online and synchronously. The course is accessible to all persons who currently possess a Provisional Driver’s License.
About Atlantic History
The Associate Degree in Atlantic History covers the historical forces which led to the creation of the Atlantic World.
The programme exposes learners to the roots of Atlantic revolutionary thought, and its impact on the creation of contemporary Caribbean society and the socio-political movements therein.
Additionally, learners are introduced to the competing definitions associated with the discipline of history, the role of the historian in society, the variants of history, the nature of historical debate. Also explored are the skills and methods employed in historical inquiry and interpretation.
Learning Outcomes
- Describe the processes involved in plate tectonics with specific reference to island formation.
- Discuss the Crown Colony government and the injustices associated with it.
- Discuss evidence of civilization before 1492.
- Explore the structure of indigenous societies before the arrival of Columbus.
- Describe the conflict between the Spanish and the Interlopers.
- Assess the importance of the role of the historian in society.

Civil Services
As a government worker, a solid foundation in history comes into play when weighing in on the political, social and economic systems of a nation. Understanding the factors in the past which shaped these systems into their modern forms is crucial for future planning and preparation.
Archaeology
Archaeologists learn about history excavating and analysing historical sites and the artifacts found within them.
A strong grasp of history informs an archaeologist of the sites worth exploring, and the potential discoveries that could be found therein.
History Teacher
A comprehensive understanding of history can translate into a promising career as a teacher or scholar in the field.
