Principal of Sir Arthur Lewis Community College Dr. Madgerie Jameson-Charles, and President of the SALCC Student Council Giovanni Janvier, will represent the College at the 10th Council of Ministers: Education Meeting, hosted under the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
The Council of Ministers: Education meeting is an annual policy forum that convenes Ministers of Education from across the OECS region, alongside technical officers, principals, and youth representatives. The two-day gathering serves as a platform for collaborative problem-solving on regional education priorities.
This year’s meeting will focus on aligning the regional education agenda with the OECS Education Sector Strategy (OESS) and the broader vision of sustainable human development.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Janvier emphasized the importance of youth representation;
My presence at the 10th Council of Ministers of Education in Dominica will help ensure that ministers and all other stakeholders consider student perspectives like never before, as I bring with me a diverse set of views and perspectives that truly reflect the voices of students at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College and the wider OECS community.
— Giovanni Janvier, President of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College Students' Council
Dr. Jameson-Charles, a regional expert in Workforce Development, TVET Training, and higher education, underscored the significance of aligning educational outcomes with the region’s workforce needs;
This meeting provides an opportunity to strengthen regional collaboration in shaping education systems that not only promote academic excellence but also prepare our learners with the technical, vocational, and innovation-driven skills required for a competitive workforce.
