Whitney Emmanuel is from the beautiful west coast village of Anse La Raye, St. Lucia. He is an Officer of The Royal St. Lucia Police Force, presently pursuing a Bachelor of Education in Primary Education at the SALCC.
He is an avid gospel songwriter and singer, as well as a poet. Whitney is also a lover of the natural world and enjoys family association, visiting the beach and listening to music especially when off-duty.
He believes that poetry is a beautiful form of self-expression which brings out the art in language, and is currently in the process of publishing his poetry collections in the form of two literary books. Whitney says, What an artist with a brush could colour with paint, a poet could reflect with words from his heart.
His interests include singing, poetry writing, inspirational writing, nature exploration, education, and youth mentorship.
Mere graphite today
A diamond tomorrow
Your change will come.
Through the heat of your circumstance
And the pressure of your sorrow
A gem is due.
Stay your course if it is commendable,
After all, the grit of great men is undeniable.
Metamorphosize out of nothing
Into something
As the artist of time paints the canvas of your story.
His brush is dictated by your choices
The story you tell is but the testimony of a few voices.
You are victor, overcomer
An unbreakable substance.
More precious than pearl
For you have endured more excellent trial
You are rare.
If only the struggler could see beyond his struggle
If only the soul could recognize its worth
Then, maybe, just maybe
Life would be seen as a prize
A sojourn
Toward a better life
A sacred trust
Not merely a journey toward the dust.
And the common man
The average dreamer
Would here find his priceless change
As his atoms are rearranged
Into something solid, precious, honorable
And, someday, heavenly.
Even more valuable than a diamond
Is the worth
Of a changed man.
