Paralegals are usually employed in private law firms, public interest and legal aid organizations, corporations, banks and government agencies. They can also work as independent contractors, providing their services to lawyers on a contract basis. Many paralegals also go on to full-fledged careers as lawyers.

Because of the growth in the need for legal training for employees in all sectors of the economy, there are several new avenues of employment in this field. The implementation of the Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME) will place even more importance on appropriate certification relevant to both local and regional markets

The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College is widely recognized and its certificates are accepted and credited in most international institutions..
