All societies require effective criminal justice systems to assist in the control of crime. When the informal social control sanctions usually provided by families, schools, religion and community fail to defer anti-social behaviour, formal sanctions are necessary.

The study of Criminal Justice has grown rapidly in Colleges and Universities worldwide since the 1970s. It is now one of the top ten majors in most institutions that offer the programme.

The Associate Degree in Criminal Justice is designed to prepare you for entry into a career in Criminal Justice or for transfer to a Bachelors degree programme.

It will also allow you to access careers in correction, criminology, forensic sciences, law enforcement, immigration and security administration. You will also gain communicative, critical thinking, research and organizational skills in the specialized areas of this programme, thus developing a strong foundation to build a career in this field.
