Inception (1963)
 

 
Located at L'Anse Road, Castries together with the Teacher's College, the library has no name and contains a  single reading room which supports student teachers

 

Morne Complex Library (1968-1975)
 


  • The library is relocated to Morne Fortune and is named the Morne Complex Library

  • Staff comprises a Librarian Tutor and one volunteer


Morne Complex Library (1976)



  • Occupies part of the ground floor of the Science Block
  • The collection comprises 17,000 books and 250 periodicals
  • Comprises five staff and a newly appointed librarian

Hunter J. François Library (1993)



The new building named after Hunter J François (a former Minister of Education) on February 27, 1993.  A four storey building, housing a reading room that can accommodate 100 users, a periodicals department, an AV center, a lecture hall, 4 tutorial rooms, and staff offices



Automation of Library Services (2001)

  • The library information system "Alexandria" is installed; utilising barcodes to access    patron and item data, as opposed to cards.

  • OPACs replace the old card catalogue; resulting in greater efficiency in searching, locating and retrieving resources.


Online Databases & Internet Access (2006)

  • Two major journal subscription databases acquired:  "Proquest and EBSCO" thus enhancing the library's research capacity.
